Yunnan Construction Investment Qiaojia Tunnel is located in Zhaotong City, Qiaojia County, Baihetan Town, a total length of 7,885 metres, the maximum depth of the tunnel body 1625 metres, the tunnel peripheral rock for the Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, of which the Ⅲ peripheral rock accounted for 13.37%, Ⅳ peripheral rock accounted for 72.96%, Ⅴ peripheral rock accounted for 13.67%, the construction of the difficulty, high safety risk level, belongs to the high-risk tunnels. The project adopts five new equipment proposed by the tunnel construction of a new programme - excavation three-piece suite (double curved arm rock drilling trolley, vertical arch loading trolley, concrete wet spraying machine), to achieve the double cancellation of the operation, and achieved significant results in cost reduction and efficiency gains.

Since the adoption of the five new "excavation three-piece suit", Qiaojia Tunnel has broken the inherent construction organisational structure, optimised the configuration of the construction team, greatly reducing the number of palm face operators, reducing construction safety risks, improving safety and security, greatly improving the construction efficiency and economic benefits.

New initiative I

Qiaojia Tunnel adopts Wuxin face drill rig to carry out circular excavation in the tunnel, step method excavation operation and arch excavation, and the drilling speed is 5 times faster than that of manual drilling. Taking the current two-step tunnel construction as an example, the traditional manual drilling and blasting palm face operation staff is about 12~13 people, using Wuxin double curved arm rock drilling dolly, the site palm face only needs two operators, the operators use wireless remote control operation, more convenient to observe the drilling angle, so as to better control the over and under excavation. The drilling speed of the double curved arm rock drill dolly is also greatly improved compared with manual drilling, the drilling speed of manual drilling is about 0.6 metres per minute, while the drilling speed of Wuxin double curved arm rock drill dolly is 5 times of manual drilling, reaching 3 metres per minute, and it reduces the noise pollution in the hole and reduces the risk of occupational health of the operators.

New initiative II

Qiaojia Tunnel adopts Wuxin platform lifter to complete the drilling and blasting holes in the palm face for charging and arch installation, no longer need to excavate charging platform. Traditionally, it takes 6-7 people to manually set up the arch, and 2-2.5 hours to install 3 bays of arch, while the arch loading trolley only requires 2 operators and 2 welders, and the installation of 3 bays of arch only takes 50 minutes, which reduces the time that the operators are exposed to the unsupported critical surface, and reduces the safety risk.

Qiaojia Tunnel adopts Wuxin Shotcrete Machine with its own air compressor, which eliminates the need to build air compressor rooms and a large number of air supply ducts in long tunnels, greatly improves the working environment at the construction site, reduces the occurrence of occupational diseases in tunnels such as pneumoconiosis and has a huge improvement in the quality of concrete, reduces the wastage of concrete in the construction, lowers the construction cost, and maximises the avoidance of bodily injuries to the operators in the construction process. The quality of the concrete has been greatly improved.
